I serve low-risk clients seeking home birth in Austin and the surrounding areas. My approach is deeply relational. The relationship built between midwife and client forms the foundation of your care. When I work with a client, I am not only monitoring the health of the mother and baby and answering questions but also intentionally working to build a trusting, safe relationship. It is my belief that when you feel known, cared for, safe, and held in your process that you are empowered to birth with confidence and trust. This is why choosing a midwife who resonates with you and with whom you feel safe is extremely important. As we spend more and more time together throughout your pregnancy, you will have space to ask questions about pregnancy and birth, express your fears and doubts, and process your feelings about your upcoming birth and the postpartum period. When the time comes for your baby to join us on the outside, our relationship will lay the groundwork for your birth experience.

Pregnancy and birth are profoundly transformative seasons. This is a time during which you may find yourself processing family relationships on a different level, working through issues with your partner, and/or unpacking your changing identity as a mother/caregiver. My care is holistic and makes room for all of these experiences, as your thoughts and feelings directly impact your health and well-being. As we create space for your internal experience, we will also nurture your physical body to generate optimal health through nutritional counseling, recommendations regarding healthy movement and the use of herbs and non-allopathic remedies, when appropriate.

Another foundation of midwifery care is your role as the expert in your own health and well-being. I listen closely to what you are telling me - through your words, emotions, and your physical body - and trust deeply in your innate knowing of yourself and what you need. While I will surely have suggestions and tips to alleviate various difficulties you may be experiencing, I believe strongly that you can ultimately make your own choices in your care. When things come up, I will provide you with up to date, evidence-based information, my recommendations if appropriate, and space to consider all of this carefully and arrive at your own decision.
